About Our Cattery
At Jade River we raise both Exotics and Persians. We believe that it is the responsibility of the breeder to improve the breed, always working in the animals best interest. With this goal in mind we carefully select for desired traits and work diligently to eliminate any faults. We breed for health and temperament as well as beauty. We are a PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) aware cattery and are currently DNA screening our cats for the PKD gene.
We strive for that irresistible combination of blue-green eyes, a sparkling clear coat and the sweetest of expressions. Our ultimate goal is to produce show quality cats with the most treasured golden color. To that end, we have incorporated silver, golden and a select few solid cats into our breeding program. Our cats are descended from well known blood lines such as Kostalena, Fairisles, Echo Hill, Lime Ridge, Pahlewi, Mission Hill and Af Edal Loga.
You may have noticed that only a handful of catteries around the world work with Golden Exotics. This is due to the exceedingly difficult nature of this endeavor which most certainly is not for the faint of heart. We are very proud to have produced the very first Golden to grand in CFA (and to our knowledge any feline registry), CH, GP Jade River's Summer Rain. Rainy granded in the fall of 2007 and in the spring of 2010 another celebration for Jade River cattery; GRC Jade River's Fire & Light - the first Golden Exotic to grand in championship.
